HOW WILL A FAMILY ADVISORY SUPPORT THE HUB?
A Family Advisory will play an important role in ensuring that the voices of family members are present in the design, governance and implementation processes of the Kenora hub. Families are seen as experts in the needs and capacity to support their youth, and members of this workgroup will be engaged in:
- Co-creating a workplan to ensure the Kenora youth hub is a youth-driven and family supported initiative
- Supporting the recruitment of family members into hub activities and initiatives
- Becoming a group of family and community engagement champions to amplify voices of youth, whose voices will reflect the context and needs of youth
- Communicating workgroup activity with network partners and interested stakeholders
WHO SHOULD JOIN?
Workgroup members can include any family member from Kenora and surrounding communities who has an interest in ensuring that Kenora’s hub is a youth-driven and youth-engaged initiative. By family member, we mean someone who offers enduring commitment to care for a young person and are related either biologically, emotionally, culturally or legally. This includes those who the person with lived experience identifies as significant to their well-being.
COMMITMENT OF WORKGROUP MEMBERS
It is anticipated that this commitment will last up to three years. To start, the workgroup will meet monthly for approximately two hours. Meetings may take place in person and virtually (teleconference and videoconference). The total expected time commitment is about 4 hours per month.
